說到比賽就有點離奇。經由朋友分享的連結知道柏克萊台灣會TSA今年將會辦KCON的第三十週年歌唱比賽。
原本想說，我都畢業了，何必去湊熱鬧！但奇妙的是，我報名截止的前一晚做了一個夢：我夢見自己錯過了報名截止時間。而起床時還蠻難過的！所以在截止的那天報了名。感覺要避免失望就要放手一搏！
報名後，台灣會的工作人員email我，把我初選排在2點35分的時段。整個會程大約從兩點到晚上六點，所以我是屬於早班的。我初選的歌是Adele 的Someone Like You! 這首歌節奏變化很多，所以我初選的前一晚得格外的練習！還跑到學校的廁所鍊，趁沒有人時開嗓！ 這首歌的詞也有困難度，所以現場其實是有用iphone當做小抄！
還記得一開始唱的時候（面對著三十個面無表情的觀眾）還蠻緊張的，尤其低音又要控制的穩。。所以比準備的還要少唱一段！畢竟讓人無感是最不好的。幸好當我到副歌時，我就逐漸進入狀況，能夠用心把歌唱出。一分鐘感覺超漫長的！隨後，繳了報名費後我就衝出門！
過了兩天之後，我終於收到了ＴＳＡ的ＥＭＡＩＬ。第一行是：Congragulations! 心臟都要掉到地上了。不知為什麼—真的好感動！
而這星期天(Nov 5)我就必須決定兩首當天比賽的歌曲，還有得寄過去自己在表演當天用的照片。
我還在想說要選哪首呢！

So this series of events has been quite a whirlwind. I found out about the 30th Anniversary Singing Competition hosted by TSA via my friend's link on Facebook.
Since I've participated in singing competitions before, my initial thought was to skip it. But I had the wildest dream the night before the application deadline-- I dreamt that I missed the deadline. I woke up feeling quite distraught, so lo and behold, I signed up for the competition that morning. I told myself, if you want to avoid regrets, you would have to go for it.
After I applied, one of the TSA staff contacted me and assigned me a spot at 2:35 (the whole audition process lasted from 2 to 6 pm)
I sang Adele's Someone Like You. The song's rhythm was quite trippy, I had to practice extra hard. I even went inside a bathroom to warm up. In order to avoid forgetting the lyrics, I held up my phone during the audition as a backup.
When I first began to sing, I was quite nervous (I was facing 30 emotionless judges. The lower range of the song was particularly difficult). I ended up skipping an entire stanza (the worst feeling is when nobody cares what you are singing about). Fortunately, I was able to ignite my inner fire and sang with emotion. The whole song lasted for no longer than 2 min, but it sure felt long.
Fast forward to two days after the audition: I received an email from TSA. The first line was— Congratulations! My heart was pounding so fast that I thought I was going to faint. I don't know why, but it felt so surreal this time.
By this Sunday (Nov 5) I would need to submit a photo of myself plus two songs of my choice.
I'm currently thinking about singing:
First song: Wang Leehong's "Your Love"
IF I made it to the final round (I'm going to choose one song from the list below)
Jay Chou (Sounds of Rain)
Yoga Lin (Fool)
John Legend (All of Me)
Coldplay (Viva La Vida)
Adele (Hello)
